Match Review

The Sydney Roosters have a recorded a massive 56-4 victory over the Parramatta Eels as they landed back to Earth after they were touted as a revived club following their Round 1 win over the Warriors.

In his long and proud career, Anthony Minichiello broke new ground at Allianz Stadium as he claimed his first career hat trick. Minichiello posted his first four-pointer early in the contest as Man of the Match, Mitchell Pearce crafted the play to perfection with Mitchell Aubusson. The Roosters led, 6-0 after 8 minutes.

Bashing forward Sam Moa was awarded his four-pointer just two minutes later as the Roosters remained ahead of the clock to lead 12-0 after 11 minutes.

Darcy Lussick was lucky to remain on the field in the 17th minute as he cleaned up Jared Waerea-Hargreaves with a swinging arm high tackle. The tackle saw the players blow up and confront each other, however no further action was taken.

The Roosters halves and back line were the shining lights across the park as they linked together in sync midway through the first up to put Minichiello across for his second. Roosters 16-0 after 22 minutes.

The Eels looked to spark themselves back into the contest as they controlled the 10 minutes heading into half time. However, despite the swing of possession they managed just the one try in the match. Semi Radradra backed up his efforts in Round 1 as he barged through the Roosters defence to beat Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to the ball.

After 40 minutes, the Roosters led the Eels 16-4.

The Sydney Roosters were clinical in the second half as the piled on a further five unanswered tries. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Mitchell Aubusson, Daniel Tupou, Anthony Minichiello all crossing for points as the Eels defence crumbled at the fast paced and damaging attack formations of the 2013 NRL premiers.

Boyd Cordner sealed the match for the Roosters in the final minutes after firstly denied by the video referee. Cordner in the play immediately after the denial, ran the same line to powered over the try line to notch the lead beyond 50 points, 56-4.

Brad Arthur truly welcomed into the NRL coaching ranks as he was given a first class lesson by Trent Robinson in how to prepare a World Class side. Parramatta’s path to the premiership doesn’t get any easier as they trek to Brookvale Oval to face the Sea Eagles. Meanwhile the Roosters head across the northern border to Suncorp Stadium to battle against the undefeated Brisbane Broncos.
