Titans coast to victory over Eels

The Gold Coast Titans have collected their second victory of the 2015 season with a convincing second half display to defeat the Parramatta Eels, 38-16.

Parramatta were held to nil in the second half as the points mounted in by the visiting Titans. Aidan Sezer and James Roberts were the attacking stars as the latter posted a hat trick.

Dave Taylor crafted the first points for the Titans as his beautiful footwork would have made a ballerina blush. Aidan Sezer provided the short pass to open the hole to give them a 6-0 lead after 10 minutes.

Danny Wicks held one of the longest points droughts in the NRL, however today he added his name to the scorers sheet with a four-pointer at the 21st minute as he powered over. All locked up at 6-all.

A lesson the Eels learnt the hard way, James Roberts bagged two intercept tries off Chris Sandow cut out passes. Roberts' points giving the Titans a 12-6 lead mid-way through the first half.

Reece Robinson locked the game up again, 12-all at the 28th minute as a pin-point flick pass from John Folau had him crash over in the eastern corner.

The Eels had the final say in the first half to take a 16-12 into the sheds as Will Hopoate darted under the line defence off a perfect Sandow pass.

James Roberts started the points raid in the second half as he slipped through to bounce over the Eels' try line. The Gold Coast 18-16 leaders, 10 minutes into the new half.

While Chris Sandow won't get the try assists stats for the pass, but his long ball provided fuel for James Roberts to secure his second intercept try at the 60th minute. The Titans out to a 24-16 lead.

Ryan James was quiet for the majority of the contest, but that didn't stop him having impact as he bust through the defence which lead to Will Zillman crossing at the 66th minute.

Only one trip to the video referee saw the Titans extend to a 34-16 lead as David Mead was awarded his run away try, again with James Roberts in play with his speed and footwork.

Anthony Don closed out the victory for the Gold Coast as he sailed over the try line with open space to secure the 38-16 win over the Eels.

The only injury concern is for Titans fullback, Josh Hoffman who left the field with a possible back-injury. He limped up the tunnel in the first half with the trainers.

Next week the Titans head home on Saturday night to host the Penrith Panthers at Cbus Super Stadium. Meanwhile the Eels are on the road to Hunter Stadium in Newcastle as they face the Knights on Sunday Afternoon in Round 7.
