ANZAC Test postponed, moved to Sunday

Big news from Suncorp Stadium tonight as the weather system in South East Queensland takes hold...

The Australia v New Zealand test scheduled to kick off at 8:10pm has been postponed and will not take place tonight.

Where to now?

The test will now be played Sunday at 4:00pm AEST in place of the originally scheduled Country v City clash. That match is now kicking off at 1:45pm AEST from Wagga Wagga. Both matches will be screened live on Channel 9.

We will confirm news on the telecast of the XXXX QLD Residents v VB NSW Cup Representative match once we have it to hand.

The Jillaroos v Kiwi Ferns test will be played 2pm Sunday at Suncorp as the curtain raiser for the Test match, and will be live streamed on the official NRL website.

UPDATE: Official statement from the NRL:

The ANZAC Test match between the Holden Kangaroos and the New Zealand Kiwis, due to be played on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium, has been postponed as a result of Brisbane's bad weather.

The match will now be played on Sunday, May 3, at 4pm at Suncorp Stadium. The match between the Jillaroos and the Kiwi Ferns will be played as the curtain raiser to the rescheduled Test match, at 2pm on Sunday.

The NRL has worked with the NZRL, broadcasters, Suncorp Stadium, both teams, NRL clubs and the RLPA around the decision.

"There were a number of considerations for this decision, primarily player safety as well as that of our supporters," NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg said.

All tickets purchased for tonight's match will be valid for the rescheduled match, however patrons unable to attend will be given a full refund.
