Rabbitohs stroll through cracked Knights

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have recorded a comfortable victory over the visiting Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium, 52-6 in front of 14,603 fans.

Newcastle started quickly to grab the first four-pointer at the 3rd minute as Kade Snowden bolted through a defensive hole. However, it would be the only Knights points of the game.

It was a 36 point first half for the Rabbitohs as they ran in seven unanswered tries, Adam Reynolds missing 3 conversions. Dylan Walker opened the Rabbitohs account at the 7th minute as the Knights defended crumbled as he scored the first of his hat trick.

Walker's outside back partner, Alex Johnston managed to do it without his shorts at the 11th minute as he crawled through the cracked Knights line. The Knights defensive effort left a lot to be desired as the Rabbitohs strolled through the line with ease as Greg Inglis, Bryson Goodwin and Dylan Walker all crossed to finish the first forty minutes.

While it was a big win by the Rabbitohs, a small positive for the Knights is they only conceded a further three tries in the second half.

It was a field-day for the Rabbitohs outside backs, but Thomas Burgess had his own stamp on the game as he crossed at the 49th minute.

Alex Johnston claimed his second four-pointer as he stole the ball out of Chanel Mata'utia's hands from a cross field kick. Dylan Walker brought up the 50 points as he crossed for his third try inside the final 10 minutes, although he did pull up lame after scoring with a leg injury. The Rabbitohs finished the game too strong for the mismatched Knights side, final score 52-6.

A long turn around for both sides as they feature in Sunday afternoon football in Round 21, Rabbitohs host the Panthers at ANZ Stadium and the Knights head to Jubilee Oval to face the Dragons.
