Rhino rampage goes through Wembley

The Leeds Rhinos have taken the 2015 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup with a 50-0 demolition of the Hull Kingston Rovers in front of over 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

The pre-game started off with Lizzie Jones, the widow of Danny Jones who passed away during a match earlier this year, performing the traditional Challenge Cup pre-game song Abide With Me that did not leave a single dry eye across the 80,000 rugby league fans or the global audience watching it.

The match started brilliantly for the Rhinos with the opening twenty minutes netting the Rhinos a 16-0 lead. The opening try went to former Eels and Titan Brett Delaney who pounced on a loose ball in the ingoal after Referee Ben Thaler and the Video Refs had ruled that it was striped by the Rovers defender when Jamie Peacock was looking certain to score. The next Rhinos try was a sign of the ease that the Rhinos had in going through the Rovers defence and it was scored veteran Danny McGuire who was set up by a good play from Peacock and Joel Moon.

The third Rhinos try of the half was the first of the fivesome that went the way of Tom Briscoe, this one started with a 70m raid from Carl Ablett and Ryan Hall before on the next play the Rhinos spread the ball and it went to 16-0 after Sinfield's conversion hit the upright.

Kieran Dixon played a starring role in helping the Rhinos in their second half demolition although he won't want to remember the many tries he contributed for the Rhinos given he was the Hull KR fullback.

Tom Briscoe scored the first try of the second half when he completely outjumped Dixon (who didn't jump) and raced away 90m to score his second try of the match. The Rhinos continued their dominance over Hull KR who came close to the line but were never really able to put the pressure on their opponents and Leeds continued their absolute dominance.

From the 57th minutes Leeds managed to score another five times through Brad Singleton at that time plus a try to veteran Rob Burrow in the 74th complimented the second half foursome for Tom Briscoe who scored at the 65, 77 and 79 minute mark to go with his opening half try that saw Briscoe make history as the first player to score 5 tries in a Challenge Cup final.
