Blues make it 3 in a row

The NSW Blues have claimed their third straight Darren Lockyer shield with a 30-8 defeat of the QLD Maroons in Under 20s Origin at Sportingbet Stadium.

The Blues started strongly as they ran in three tries in 30 minutes to dominate the Maroons in the first half. Jake Mamo the star as he posted a hat trick as he claimed Man of the Match honours to take out the Darren Lockyer medal for best on ground.

It was a fiery contest in the first half with both teams down to 12 men in the 26th minute with Matthew Lodge (NSW) and John Folau (QLD) given 10 minutes in the sin bin for throwing punches.

After forty minutes the Blues lead the Maroons 18-4 at the break as the Queenslander claimed points on the siren through John Folau.

The second half saw the Blues run in 2 tries to 1 as the Maroons failed to get into the contest with a strong pack from the NSW side leading the way. The Blues struck points through Sione Mata'utia (52nd minute) off a great pass from Mitchell Moses and Jake Mamo claimed his third with incredible pace (66th minute).

Similarly to the first half, the Maroons closed out the second with points being posted through Luke Bateman via a short pass from Jaelen Feeney.

The NSW Blues made it three straight victories in Under 20s Origin, 30-8 over the QLD Maroons.
