Penrith punish rusty Roosters
6 hours ago | Aidan Edgecomb
In what started as an evenly contested match, The Melbourne Storm soon ran away with the match and made Souths look embarrassing at times. Souths scored first from a clever kick by prop Paul stringer but that was the end of their joy as Melbourne slowly started to build some momentum, with Souths making a lot of silly mistakes and giving away undisciplined penalties.
Melbourne went to the break leading 12-6 but raced away with the game in the second stanza to run out winners 44-6 in front of a small but parochial Melbourne crowd. Best for Melbourne were Orford, Ross and Kearns. Melbourne now see themselves back in the top eight and look to gain some momentum after a much needed victory.
