The finals picture became slightly clearer following the weekend's action, with the Sydney Roosters in the box seat to claim the JJ Giltinan shield after an emphatic Monday night win over the Wests Tigers, while the Rabbitohs kept their chances of catching the Roosters in-hand with a hard-fought win over Manly in Gosford. The Melbourne Storm held out the Newcastle Knights to reclaim fourth place from Manly, while the Bulldogs and Sharks both recorded victories which all but confirm their top eight positions.

Newcastle and the Titans both dropped the ball at the bottom end of the eight with losses at the weekend, leaving the door open for teams on the edge of the eight to move closer. Brisbane are the biggest movers with several consecutive wins under their belt. At the bottom end of the table, the Dragons, Tigers and Eels all remained stagnant with losses.

Below you'll find the results, player of the match points and match details for each fixture, plus a look at the NRL ladder after Round 23.
